Collaborative Laboratories for Europe (Co-Lab) project was funded under the European Union’s FP5-IST programme, under grant agreement IST-2000-25035. In the Co-Lab project, a new type of learning environment was created to help learners develop flexible knowledge in science domains, skills to collect and synthesize information and to collaborate with others. This learning environment brought together, in an integrated way, facilities for experimentation (including remote laboratories), collaboration, and domain modelling. In each of these facilities, guidance for learners was available. The Co-Lab project developed demonstrators in the applied science areas of water management and climate control (in greenhouses).
